Team Members

Patrick Casey

Prior to founding SPI in 2002, Casey held senior marketing and general management positions at both technology start-ups and Fortune 500 business units where he specialized in developing new businesses based on novel technologies. He evangelized one of the first programmable digital signal processers (DSP) as a marketing manager at Analog Devices. Casey lead the introduction of an award winning graphic arts desktop scanner and the first photographic quality handheld digital camera while director of marketing for Polaroid Electronic Imaging. While a division manager at the Motorola Semiconductor Group, he negotiated and led a joint development effort with Intel to incorporate modems directly into personal computer architecture. Casey recruited a world class team of executives to commercialize a unique interoperability software offering while COO of Anysoft Incorporated.

Casey holds a BS in mathematics from Bates College and a MS in applied economics and finance from the Sloan School of Management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Chris Zirps

Zirps has over twenty five years of product design, engineering, and strategy experience from work within the military and private consulting, including twenty years with Product Genesis. This experience has ranged from the design, development and manufacturing of a wide variety of medical and industrial products to identifying suitable target markets and product strategies for sleep monitoring, security, and equipment wellness technologies. Zirps has over thirty patents associated with these projects. Zirps' areas of expertise include technology evaluation, needs identification and translation into requirements, system architecture, mechanical engineering design, and project management.

Zirps holds a BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Manickam Sridhar

"Sri" is an independent consultant and frequent collaborator with SPI. He brings over 20 years of C-level technical and business experience focused on bringing voice, data and video, hardware and software products to market. With 21 patents in communications and multimedia applications, Sri has proven track record of creating software and hardware products to meet worldwide requirements and bringing them to market on time and budget, generating annual revenues of up to $100M. He has lead cross functional development teams and strategic planning functions in established and startup companies, such as Motorola, Sitara Networks and Converged Access. He also has set up offshore design and manufacturing, as well as negotiated strategic partnerships among major industry players.

Sri holds a B.S in Electronics and Communications Engineering degree from The University Of Madras and M.S. in Electrical and Computer engineering from the University Of Iowa.

Kevin Otto

As Founder and President of Robust Systems and Strategy, inc., Kevin has been a long time collaborator with SPI. Otto brings 20 years of technical and business experience in mechanical systems development, including 9 years as an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at MIT where he co-founded the Center for Innovation in Product Development. A master black belt in Design for Six Sigma, Kevin has run training seminars and lead programs in technology development, quality assurance, modeling and analysis, and market planning for major corporations such as Ford, United Technologies, Cummins, and 3M. Otto holds 2 patents in new mechanical equipment technology.

Kevin holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Minnesota, and a PhD from Caltech.
